The Light That Burns Brightest Will Be the Light That Burns Shortest

Chewbacca…

One year and a half has already passed since I last held you so delicately in my arms.  I miss that uncanny connection we had together.  We understood each other so well.  I try so hard everyday to fill your void.  It was because of you that I adopted two more Poms (same age as you) who lost THEIR mom. 

You inspired us from the day we brought you home to your very last day of life.  Everything we ever did, every decision we ever made was done for you.  You were the center of our universe.  Little Tiny, I hope you will always know how much we love you and miss you.  You made large contributions to our lives and we will never forget all of the following:

• The way you bizerked to release that extra energy.
  
• The way you could sneeze on command and used it to tell us to share our plates with you.
  
• Your funny yawns that mimicked the real Star Wars “Chewbacca”.
  
• The way you defied the toy breeds by NOT being a lap dog. You were so independent.
  
• The year you spent with me at UCSD and in the van.  How you assumed your seat on my left side of the door arm.
  
• How you tried to hoard as many treats your little mouth could withstand….you greedy thing you!
  
• The way you always walked up to our feet and EXPECTED your daily chest rub.
  
• The times when you pulled both of your drinking bowls from the wall at an equal distance each to tell me you were thirsty.
  
• When you rolled down the car windows anytime you wanted air.
  
• The way you barked off and dominated much larger dogs than yourself.
  
• How everyone thought you were so “Joe Cool”.
  
• The way you buried your head in affection in my lap with a slow, sporadic wagged tail (the only time you ever wagged your tail).
  
• How you loved fortune cookies.
  
• All the people you met and all the friends that you made (more than me).
  
• The way you never complained about your medicines and poking and prodding.
  
• The way you shook hands on command, even on your last day of life. So smart!

You truly were a special being and how grateful we are to have experienced your furry little spirit.  Remember how I always told you, “Your helfy, Your helfy!”?  You are now truly healthy and restored, and Heaven’s Gates have embraced you.  Thank you Chewbacca for your gift of a short lived life.  Daddy reminds us of a famous quote, “The light that burns the brightest will be the light that burns the shortest”.  Oh, how you mirror this.  You were tough to the bitter end.  Thank you so much for enduring the extra two years.  We loved you more than life itself….and until we meet again my Little Tiny.
